August 6th, 2008GAF #17: Intendant Kira

Deep Space Nine is our favorite Star Trek series, so we don’t need the escapism of the mirror universe anywhere near as badly as we do in its sister franchises. And we love Major Kira in our universe too.

Nevertheless, it’s always a pleasure to watch the adventures of Kira’s “evil” bisexual counterpart, Intendant Kira. Well, they say “evil,” we prefer to say “colorful”.

See her and other “colorful” characters in the gallery.

April 25th, 2008GAF #16: Desire

DesireIn the immortal words of Debbie Harry:

Once I had a love, and it was a gas
Soon turned out - had a heart of glass

The beautiful Desire, whose sigil is, in fact, a heart of cut glass, is the only truly cruel sibling of the Endless. You’d probably be cruel too if you were the personification of all things before fulfillment of desire, but not fulfillment itself.

Desire’s gender is mutable, being male, female, neither or both as necessary. We’re not sure where exactly such a unique character fits into the Gallery of Gay Action Figures, but we’re sure Desire qualifies in several different categories.

Bonus musical trivia: Desire’s appearance is roughly based on Annie Lennox. Neat.

April 17th, 2008GAF #15: Kennedy

KennedyGood ol’ Buffy… That show just keeps on giving.

In addition to our inclusion of two of the series regulars into our upcoming and illustrious list of Ten Favorite Gay Geeks, Kennedy becomes the third character from the series to be inducted into the Gallery of Gay Action Figures.

We love Kennedy for shaking Willow out of her post-Tara slump and filling her with love and joy and gushy, yummy feelings, all paving the way for Willow to become the magical white witch and kick those nosferatu wannabes back down the Hellmouth’s stinky gullet.

Baron Vladimir HarkonnenPoor old baron.

Those of you who read the Prelude To Dune trilogy know that he wasn’t always a vicious, diseased, floating, fat, evil gay, but that he started out as a vicious, hot-bodied, well-toned, very attractive, evil gay.

It’s a shame that the gay guy had to be the evilest of all the very evil people in the Duniverse, but at least in the David Lynch version of the film we got to watch him drool over sweaty Sting clad only in his groin sculpture.

So we salute you, o installer of disgusting heart plugs and chewer of scenery!

And welcome to the Gallery of Gay Action Figures.
