This Harper’s Bazaar article is the usual celebrity pablum about a 21-year-old’s “comeback,” but for some reason, it’s accompanied by photos of her with various superheroes.

Apparently she:
- had a kid with Spiderman,
- is hooking up with Batman on the side,
- goes shopping with the Flash,
- chats with gal-pal Robin,
- turns tricks on the corner with the Hulk,
- does Captain America’s laundry,
- gets Catwoman to wash her car,
- and ends the day either with Wonder Woman’s outfit or with a naked Wonder Woman.
It all makes about as much sense as I Know Who Killed Me, but the costumes are better.

Martian Child
Martian Child is based on David Gerrold’s short novel The Martian Child, which is itself based on Gerrold’s own experiences as an adoptive parent. Unlike in the novelette, the film’s adopted child actually believes he is from Mars, which leads science fiction writer / protagonist David Gordon, played by John Cusack, to believe that he is particularly well suited to help the boy. Not surprisingly, the protagonist from the semi-autobiographical novel is stripped of his homosexuality and made into a more marketable widower instead.
This comedy-drama doesn’t really belong in our list, but we include it because we like David Gerrold. For those who don’t know, Gerrold is the creative father of the Tribbles (which he called “Fuzzies”) and writer of, among other things, the popular Star Trek: TOS episode “The Trouble with Tribbles”.
Zapped!
Before he was 45 and single, Scott Baio was young and horny in this 1981 movie about a teenager who gets telekinetic powers from a high school lab accident. Unlike the Heroes heroes, he neither becomes a villain nor a superhero, but rather uses his powers to look up girls’ skirts. The usual high school clichés apply, except in this case, Baio doesn’t remove the nerdy girls glasses to find out that she’s a hottie - he telekinetically shatters them off her face. Hilarity (and probably reconstructive plastic surgery to remove glass shards) ensue. Trivia: Baio’s future Charles in Charge co-star Willie Aames was nominated for a Worst Actor Razzie for his stellar performance. Read the rest of this entry »
Before Earth Kitt, Lee Meriwether, Michelle Pfeiffer and (groan) Halle Berry, there was Julie Newmar as Batman’s purrrfect villainess. Even if you don’t go back that far, you’ll surely remember 1995’s To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, named for the autographed photo of the legendary beauty which the three unusually cast drag queens of the film carried around with them.
Well, Miss Newmar has placed this advertisement on the back cover of Adweek in the hopes of snagging more corporate sponsorships. She certainly deserves better than this offer, but we here at Angry Puppy would be proud to have her as our emissary!
If only she had been cast in 2004’s Catwoman, I might have been able to sit through the whole thing without so many groans. But I would never wish such an awful fate on such a lovely lady.

The WGA strike has Ellen playing Guitar Hero on air, me waiting for Heroes and, now, Justice League fans waiting indefinitely.
The upcoming live action Justice League film has been put on the shelf pending a re-write. Expected roles include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman, but don’t expect Christian Bale or Brandon Routh. There have been no definite casting announcements yet, but director George Miller has made it clear that he wants to cast actors who can grow into the roles.
I’m not a huge Justice League fan, but wouldn’t it be a little weird to have simultaneous major motion pictures out with different actors in leading roles like Superman or Batman?
