In response to our post on theme songs that really shouldn’t have lyrics, reader Rob posted this clip of John Barrowman humming the Doctor Who theme:

My favorite part is when David Tennant starts an impromptu baseline accompaniment. Does anyone know who the third contestant is?

To this day, I can’t hear the Star Wars theme without humming under my breath, “Star Wars! Nothing but Star Wars!”

In honor of that clip, I found some other sci-fi themes that friendly neighborhood geeks have added words to.

If Björk ever does another Medúlla-style album, she should hire this next guy. Check out his a capella Battlestar Galactica theme:

Does anyone know more about Tandi Iman Dupree? I’m not finding nearly enough about her online.

May 5th, 2008Khor Borg: or WTF?

I am being driven insane by a little Flash video that I found online somewhere last year. It’s set to what I think is a Thai pop song and features an 8-bit lady out on the town. I especially like when she takes down the roomful of (I think) bouncer-thugs in what looks like a mini-game in the middle of the clip. But why did they want her out of the club? Is she jealous of the scantily-clad woman at the next bar or is she just showing off her dance moves to those guys at the table? And is that supposed to be her husband or her father in the last scene?

My biggest problem is that the hook near the words “Khor Borg” won’t get out of my head. I found myself humming the thing again this morning when the answer hit me: crowdsourcing!

Here’s a poor-quality version on YouTube. Perhaps one of you knows what’s going on in this thing? If you’re as clueless as me, I’ll accept your best interpretation.
