Earlier this month, we posted a a picture of Jodie Foster re-enacting a scene from Hitchcock’s The Birds. Lovely.
Now, it appears that Jessica Alba wants in on the reenactment act to promote The Eye. Here’s her version from a recent Latina magazine photoshoot. She also does Scream, Rosemary’s Baby and Psycho. I’m most impressed that she manages to do it all with only two facial expressions.
From the photos, I thought that this was a tongue-in-cheek exercise, just a celebrity having fun with sets, makeup and a camera. Then I saw the accompanying video. It’s supposed to be “high concept”.
Ouch.

Dear Mr./Ms. Artist:
This is strangely beautiful. If you would like to work on an independent music video, please let us know.

Jodie Foster recreates a scene from The Birds in the current Vanity Fair’s photo spread Hollywood Portfolio: Hitchcock Classics. Other scenes include Charlize Theron in Dial M for Murder, Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem in Rear Window, and Marion Cotillard in Psycho.
I like the Jodie Foster picture, and you should read nothing into the fact that I’m posting this here where we sometimes discuss the horror genre and gay stuff.

Café Loup, as in “wolf”, is one of my favorite restaurants in the West Village. In the back corner, there’s a picture with two images of a rubber duck. The first is drawn with a cartoonishly upturned smile. The second is that same duck osteology-style, showing his internal skeletal structure. There’s something disturbing, yet whimsical about it at the same time.
Michael Paulus has given the same treatment to some well-known cartoon characters. Here’s a sneak preview of Betty Boop.

I’m not familiar with this type of thing I’m seeing. I would imagine it might be considered NSFW.
The guy who uploaded the video warns:
UPDATED(1/31)This is possibly the most disturbing thing I’ve seen on the Interweb. I’m sorry for inflicting this upon all of you.
He says it’s the work of Japanese performance artist wotaken, but I can’t read Japanese to verify.
