I saw it more as a parody of male gamers who are sexist against female players. Some guys will do anything to not get beat by a girl in video games. They think it makes them look bad. As such, you’ll see lots of gamer groups with unofficial rules for there being no women.

I didn’t know that about gamer groups. I’m not a social gamer, though.
There weren’t people around where I grew up (with my Nintendo), so I just got used to always playing by myself. I thought that all the MMORPGs and online capabilities of the various consoles would change that, but nope. I still play alone.
