Jon Stewart Makes Me Twitter
In case you were wondering what the hell I was Twittering about last night, have a look at this segment from The Daily Show episode that I was watching at the time.
I’ve also wondered why they often pick that shirtless scene of Sulu fencing when they talk about George Takei in the mainstream media. And a big thanks to Jon Stewart for pointing it out to his (mostly straight) audience, who, understandably, probably don’t think about this sort of thing much. It’s not a sexual scene, but does “gay” only make sense to some people if there’s some skin showing or at least a hint of sexuality?
Granted, Sulu is an attractive guy, (that voice!) but that’s beside the point.
This segment was probably written by someone else, but trivial knowledge of the Star Trek universe seems to flow right out of Jon Stewart’s mouth, no? Hence my Twitter proposal that he be my California-husband. I don’t know how New York State will feel about my having two legal spouses, but if it’s good enough for Utah in the 19th century, it’s good enough for me.

Well, we’re “domestically partnered” here in NYC, but I call him my husband. It’s not our fault that NY State is a little slower on these things. :D

ya, us canadian’s are slightly ahead of you in that aspect:D

Just the one aspect? ;)
Our governor just caused a kerfuffle by saying NY state agencies should recognize marriages that are legal elsewhere even if not here. It’s more complex that that, but I’m no legal scholar.
I do know that I’d rather run up to Quebec than traipse all the way across the country to California to do the deed.

You’ve convinced me that I have to stay up to watch The Daily Show on UK TV. It airs.. somewhere at ridiculous o’clock, I know that for sure. :)

I just love the adverts, google puts on this site because of all your talking of marriage and husbands (I very much like the word ‘husbandry’ by the way)
first it was an ad for arranged muslim marriages or some such thing, and now it’s a dating service for (straight) women.
I’m not sure you’re that successful in reaching your primary target audience ;-)

Jon Stewart is one of the few people who humanizes gay people AND reaches such a large demographic of college aged straight men. He is the shit

And he’s a total DILF.

Aww, Marc and Lee, sitting in a tree, D-O-M-E-S-T-I-C-(space)-P-A-R-T-N-E-R-(dash)-S-H-I-P-P-E-D… Man, they really need to update that rhyme…
The Daily Show is on at like 8.30pm on MoreFour here in the UK, but they show yesterday’s episode… so the news isn’t exactly ‘breaking’, but it’s still pretty darn humorous.
Woo California marriage! I’m seriously tempted to find a fella to get hitched to when I go out there next month, just so, you know I don’t miss the opportunity or anything…
