Hey guys,
Glad to see you both back (was in a bit of withdrawal). Excellent vlog, as always.
Question (sort of) for Mark (since you’re the expert on the Doctor): I was a bit bothered by Ten’s interaction to Unit. I’ve only started watching Dr Who since the 2005 relaunch, so my understanding on the backstory prior to that is limited to too much time on wikipedia. With that said, he seemed far more hostile to Unit than what was called for, considering he used to run with them back in the day (as you mentioned in the blog). I get characters change over time, especially ones who literally go through metamorphoses; however, ten’s interactions seemed discontinuous with nine’s interaction in the aliens in London story arch, where he was ordering the Unit members with guns around.
The question, then, is how much normally changes from one incarnation to the next (since I’ve only seen one change)? Changing into a vehement anti-gun pacifist seems to go beyond just having a body swap. Am I right in thinking that’s slightly out of character, or is such a change normal for time lords?
I feel ridiculously geeked out for having written this.

In response to Stephen’s question, the Doctor can change quite a bit. For example, the Sixth Doctor was so much smarter than the previous Doctors that he fixed the chameleon circuit in the TARDIS. In “Boom Town,” Nine says he can fix it “if he wanted to,” but as they point out in “Silence in the Library” the Doctor is a wee bit proud. I wouldn’t trust him to admit his own flaws.
Speaking of “Silence in the Library,” why is it that the vlog is a week behind the release schedule of things like Lost and BSG?

I think in general the Doctor is fed up with aggressive humans. Seems to me that since the self involved and violent Torchwood (before Jack!) caused him to lose Rose, he’s really had it.

Anthony - After we’ve watched everything, it takes a couple of days to put the episode together. Then it takes a couple of days to get into the AfterElton editorial schedule, so by the time we’re up, the new episode is on and the cycle repeats.
In other words “All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.”

Finally, a situation where that quote makes sense!
Cheers :D

Uh… ditto on the Doctor comments. His personality and tastes do change sometimes drastically from one incarnation to another, and this is consistent throughout the long history of the series. So in part when people debate about their favorite Doctors, it’s not just about the actor in the role, but the actual character because he does change.
