May 7th, 2008Wolverine and the X-Men Overexposed in 3, 2, 1…
I kid, I kid. As long as there are no more Jean Grey / Phoenix stories (for at least a decade or two), I’m there.
If X-Men: Evolution didn’t completely turn you off of X-Men cartoons, check out this trailer for Wolverine and the X-Men, coming to Nicktoons in 2009.
Was there anyone not in that trailer? Even the Hulk and Mojo made cameos.
When the series starts, expect to see:
- Wolverine - (Voiced by Steven Blum from Cowboy Bebop)
- Professor X
- Cyclops
- Beast
- Storm
- Kitty Pryde
- Iceman
- Nightcrawler
- Angel
- Colossus
- Emma Frost
- Forge
- Sammy Paré / Squidboy
- Jean Grey
- Tabitha Smith / Boom Boom
- Pyro
- Dust
- Magneto
- Quicksilver
- Scarlet Witch
- Rogue
- Avalanche
- Blob
- Kamal
- Domino
- Mystique
- Sabretooth
- Toad
- Juggernaut
- Lorna Dane/Polari
- Abraham Cornelius
- Senator Robert Kelly
- Col. John Wraith
What do you all think? Tired of the X-Men or can’t wait for more?

Yay for the oft-neglected Kurt Wagner and Kitty Pryde.

Can’t say the title thrills me, but I’ve been waiting for a long time for the Sentinels story to come to the screen. Long enough that I don’t think the changes are going to bother me very much.

Yay for Emma Frost, the closest we will get to a drag queen in saturday morning cartoon form. :D

The cartoon’s premise has been done already a million times over. I’m not really going to check it out.
I will say that the “New X-Men” run by GRANT MORRISON is very good, it has a lot of the big ideas he’s known for and its very thought provoking(I know I know, one should never put X-Men and “Thought provoking” in the same sentence, BUT THIS IS GRANT MORRISON we’re talking about). And Morrison’s Emma Frost was very well characterized.
By the way, Lee, thanks for your views on Sandman and “The Kindly Ones”.

Ron - Nightcrawler was always my favorite as a kid. I kind of had a crush on him. What does that say about me? I never disliked Kitty Pryde, but I’ve only recently warmed up to her a lot more - after Whedon’s treatment.
WuBomei - Agreed on all counts, though I haven’t seen a lot of the more recent installments of the franchise, so I’m probably less burnt out than most people.
Ben - Like Kitty Pryde, I’ve only recently come around to Emma Frost. What the hell was I thinking? She’s the best character…
Cory - We’ll watch so you don’t have to. I’ll let you know if something good happens. ;) Those were Marc’s views on Sandman, and even though we disagree on most other things, I’d say we’re together on this one.

Right, sorry Marc, I think I must have just woken up when I read the comments. My mistake.

Eh, You get Tweedledum or Tweedledee. What’s really the difference? ;)

The Youtube trailer doesn’t seem to be working on here for me, but I checked it out and I like that Prof X and Jean Grey won’t be active in the series (at least for a while anyway). Also Emma Frost getting recruited, Emo Cyclops and Wolverine mouthing off to Bobby’s parents about him being a mutant all makes for something I’ve got to see.
Off topic: by the way I just found the vlog in the last couple of days so tried catching up with those before visiting the site and saying anything.
On another note thats somewhat related (although very distantly) have you thought about adding Hulkling and Wiccan from Young Avengers to the gallery of gay action figures?

Glad you stopped by to post!
We’re still holding a few action figures that just haven’t been posted yet, but I haven’t seen a Hulkling or Wiccan.
Perhaps it’s time for me to Google some more…

I think they come in a set of the four guys, I did double check on Marvel a few minutes ago but I’ve forgotten already, oops!
May 8th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Ahhh. Marc’s got a rule - no mini-figures.
In other words, closer to He-Man than to G.I. Joe size. ;)
Now that you mention it, I need to clean up the gallery. In the most recent Worpdress update, our images got sort of, er, wonkified, so that page is not optimized at all. Thanks for the reminder!

Oh well, lol.
Also, I was going to ask whether you were thinking of adding Mystique or Iceman to it? I can’t remember where I read about them (I think it was on LiveJournal or somewhere in the depths of the Marvel website) but Mystique and Destiny are supposed to have had a relationship and that Mystique is bisexual. Iceman on the other hand I think I read in an interview that was linked from an Iceman/Northstar LJ page where whilst having an interview about the latest X-men storylines the issue of his sexuality was brought up and the writer said that Iceman was bi (just been searching for the link for ages but can’t find it) but that he couldn’t accept it or something to that extent anyway.
Glad I could help somehow anyway, I better get back to actually doing some revision.

Just a quick note the Wiccan and Hulkling figures weren’t mini figures, they’re like 6″ scale I think. They were in the marvel legends line, and they even have it on amazon…
