BSG: Caprica Back On

This just in from a Sci Fi Channel press release: Caprica has been greenlit as a 2-hour backdoor pilot prequel.

Set 50 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families - the Greystones and the Adamas - as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies. Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe. Caprica will deliver all of the passion, intrigue, political backbiting, family conflict and hardcore action that always leaves Galactica fans begging for more.

I’m not usually one for prequels, but the upcoming and final season of BSG will no doubt leave a lot of unanswered questions that, we hope, can be addressed in Caprica.

Watch this space for more details as they come out.

After the way they handled Razor, I’m game for any prequels or follow-up movies they decide to make.

I agree with Alistair, Razor was even better than I expected. Hopefully, Caprica will be just as good. I’ve got my calendar marked for the last season.

I’m not too excited by “Caprica” there is a cursory description on http://www.SciFi.com in the “SciFi Wire” section that describes it as a Sci-Fi soap opera ala “Dallas”. This is unacceptable. It seems to me that this was done to bring the cost of the series to below bargain basement levels and thus perfect for a foundering outlet like the Sci-Fi Channel.

    Cory, agreed.

If we’re really nice, we might get to review Caprica before it comes out, so we’ll keep you updated.
