The entire premise of New Amsterdam is automatically offensive to me because of the origin of his immortality comes off as fairly racist. He saves the life of a Magical Negro Native American and in return they use their magic to make him immortal. Naturally, it never occurs to them to make the members of their own tribe immortal, no doubt because the immortal magic only works on superior white genes . . .

You said it.
Our vlog was getting cranky so I edited out some of my ranting on New Amsterdam, but that was one of our complaints as well.
I think my quote was that the magical Native Americans were “painting with all the colors of the wind” like Pocahontas.
This seems like the kind of show that went through tons of focus groups, yet no one pointed out how distasteful that was before it aired?

Hey Lee, if you don’t mind me asking, what is your shirt supposed to represent/be from? The three triangle symbol reminds me of the Zelda game franchise, but I know that symbol has been used for other products… so I was just wondering :)

Yes Zeta! Totally with you… actually it was a twofer on racism… 10,000BC also prominently features a magical native american… well native something anyway… who uses her magic powers to bring back to life endangered white female leads.
PS. That was a spoiler for anyone who sees the movie and misses the three thousand hints that foreshadow this shocking plot point.

Madison, it’s a Zelda-inspired shirt. Good catch on the triforce!
