February 29th, 2008Witches and Lesbian Ghosts and Nephilim, Oh My
Does anyone remember Hex that played on BBC America a couple of years ago?
If not, you can see the entire first season on Joost for free. Unfortunately, that’s only 6 episodes. The seasons were divided differently for BBC America, so what we consider the first season is actually the first season plus the first four episodes of the second season.
At first glance, Hex could seem really cheesy, like Charmed. After all, everyone was sexy, and the main characters were a latent witch, a lesbian ghost and the leader of the Nephilim. I actually found it fairly dark and entertaining, though.
I never saw the second season. You could see in the ads that Cassie was replaced with another character, and I understand the show took a different direction. Here’s hoping that Joost eventually gets the rest of it, since it’s no longer available on cable over here.
- The Story Begins (part 1)
- The Story Begins (part 2)
- Life Goes On
- Deeper into the Darkness
- Possession
- The Release
Can any of our British readers let us know how the show was received over there?

not a plug, but hulu.com is offering private beta invites for their on demand javascript player. sci-fi worthy, i came across episodes of firefly, bsg, the orignal bsg, etc. Mostly new tv shows but some old, and no movies. Took about a week after the initial request for the invite to come through.

oh and one more thing related to Hex, you might notice Jemima Rooper (Thelma), she was in a short series called Sinchronicity about a love triangle. One point of that triangle was Paul Chequer who also played Eugene in the season 1 episode of Torchwood. Yep it all comes back to Torchwood.

Plug away! Thanks for the Hulu heads up. I wrote it off when it wasn’t Mac friendly, but they seem to have changed that.
I’m not a fan of the Hulu interface either, but let me give it some more time.
Torchwood: You know, I thought I had seen that Adam guy (Bryan Dick) from the episode “Adam” somewhere, but the only thing it could have been (using IMDb to check) was Color Me Kubrick. Great movie, but I don’t remember him from that. Maybe he just has one of those faces?

Oh dear, Hex season 2 isn’t fantastic but its worth watching just to see how it all ties up (well kind of) and as well as a lesbian ghost there will be an outing of one of the male characters which has something to do with the plot. Anyway, I think season two can be found online at alluc.org if you still haven’t seen it yet. :)
I would comment on how it ends but I’ll leave it incase you haven’t seen it yet.
