I’m becoming less and less interested in director Stephen Sommers’ 2009 GI Joe film, but there is some good news. Chris Eccleston has been cast as Destro, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Heavy Duty. Plot details are scarce, but the rivalry between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow is expected to be a large part of the film.

In non-movie news:

• EA will be developing a game based on 2009’s movie. The Simpsons Game aside, there haven’t been too many great movie-based games, but we’ll reserve judgement.
• Devil’s Due lost the comic rights last month to either IDW or Marvel. I don’t read this current batch of comics. Any readers here? Is this a good or bad development?

Since we’re on the topic, here’s a casting update since our last related post. Anyone else notice that Lady J and Cobra Commander are missing?  Online fears are that she was replaced with Cover Girl. And perhaps he’s contemplating running for president again?
