First *Real* Wolverine Movie Photo
If you follow Internet gossip, then you may have noticed the “first picture from the set” of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that was going around earlier in the week.

It turned out that, no, this is just how Hugh Jackman looks while playing Wolverine. (I think the leather jacket also threw everyone off.)
Today, though, we get the first actual picture.

That’s better! I thought that other one was a little underwhelming.
Jackman says of the X-Men:
I think one of the reasons the X-Men took off is that it connected in a way nobody saw. They’re mutants with powers. But they’re also outcasts for being, and everyone connects with that on some level. And who wouldn’t want the power to get back at the people who ostracized you?
That’s probably why almost all gay comic fans I know were X-Men fans at some point, even if they’re not into the recent movies.
Wolverine seems to be the darling of this generation of fans, but there are some others I’d like to see an “origins” film about. Storm (not the Halle Berry one) is high on the list, both because she’s ridiculously powerful and has a great back story, even being revered as a goddess at one point.
It’s late in the game for my all-time favorite fantasy casting, but how I would have loved to have seen Grace Jones in this role!
Which X-Men would you like to see more of? Do you think Wolverine is getting just a little too much of the attention?
X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be in theaters May 2009.

Okay I have to jump in and say that Cyclops was always my favorite X-Man; I know he bores everyone to tears but for some reason I always found an appeal in him (well the old-school Cyclops, things have changed) as the quiet loner who always focused on responsibility and couldn’t connect with the other guys.

I find it annoying that there are so many sequels and prequels and all of that, but I really hope that this movie is actually good. I did see, at some point, a Magneto movie listed on imdb in production, as well. That might prove to be interesting.

Madison, I couldn’t agree more.
Sometimes prequels sound interesting (like Caprica - I definitely want to know how the BSG universe got to the situation they’re in!)
Other times, it just feels like laziness. “Why come up with a new idea when we can just tell the prequel of an old idea?”
There is an X-Men Origins: Magneto movie in the works. I like Wolverine, but Magneto? Now, there’s a story I want to hear!
